Lets start with an

Introduction

Train to be an RTITB or AITT-qualified Lift Truck Instructor and Examiner in 10 days.*

This is a ten-day course, offered on-site or from one of our training centres, with a final examination, for experienced lift truck operators who wish to provide operator training for their employer or on a commercial basis (instructors must become accredited to provide commercial training approved by the accrediting bodies).

Successful candidates will be able to train on all machine types for their company and will only require an operator’s certificate for each machine type. Please let us know if you require any clarification on this.

*New instructors will require the ten-day course, those wishing to re-validate their current qualification have the choice of either a five or three-day course.

What's involved?

Examination

All 4 elements must be successfully completed to achieve an overall pass and qualify as a Lift Truck Instructor.

Delegates must meet the eligibility criteria to complete this course and in addition, we strongly recommend a minimum of 6 months’ operating experience.

Advanced Operational Competence Test (Test to Instructor’s standard)

The candidate will be tested on the Counterbalance Lift Truck to Instructors standard. The candidate must score 25 penalty points or fewer to pass. If the candidate fails to pass on the first attempt, one additional attempt may be made during the course.

In-class Theory Lesson Delivery

The lesson will be allocated on the first day of the course. The candidate will be required to deliver a 20–25-minute lesson to the other trainees and course instructor in the early part of the second week. There are no additional attempts during the course. However, there is time during the course to discuss, prepare and practice prior to the delivery of the lesson.

Theory Test

All candidates are required to sit and pass a theory test consisting of 48 questions, a score of 80% or higher is required to pass. If candidates are unsuccessful on their first attempt, the test may be re-taken an additional 2 times during the course. Mock theory tests are available to all candidates during the course.

Practical Lesson Delivery

Candidates will be required to deliver a 30-minute practical lesson on the final day of the course. The lesson will be delivered to an external RTITB examiner. The lesson will be allocated on the Wednesday morning of the second week, candidates will have 2 days to prepare and practice delivery. There are no additional attempts during the course.
Training Centre

Our Accredited Training Centres

Instructor courses will be held at one of our accredited training centres. We have 4000 sq. ft of modern, heated facilities and a fully equipped training room. There are also kitchen facilities with hot and cold drinks, the use of a fridge and microwave etc. is also available for use.

Customer Premises

Instructor courses can also be carried out on customer premises but must have all the necessary requirements to be able to deliver practical lessons. Please talk to our team for more information.

Costs include examination fees, all course material and publications required over the two weeks for revision and refreshments.
