Overhead Cranes

Overhead Crane

Lets start with an

Introduction

Overhead cranes are predominantly used for moving heavy or awkward loads inside factories and warehouses. They are more commonly referred to as gantry cranes or overhead trailing cranes, pick and place cranes or workshop cranes. They are commonly used in metal manufacturing plants, heavy equipment repair, concrete manufacturing and many other industries.

There are 3 different types of overhead crane that we offer training on:

Pendant controlled: The crane is controlled with what is called a pendant, a control that hangs down from a hoist and allows the operator to control the crane and the load as it moves down the runway.

Cab controlled: The crane’s movements are controlled by the operator who is sat in a cab that is attached to the crane.

Remote controlled: The crane is controlled with a remote from the ground.

Our training courses are designed to provide trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively operate an overhead crane in the workplace ensuring they are keeping themselves and others safe.

Training will take place on site at the customers premises.
